Nomads knowledge and learning centre – FREE resources for the tourism and hospitality industry

Have you ever thought of opening a backpackers hostel? Are you open to the idea of improving your business? Would you like to collaborate and work with others to improve together. Australian backpacking organisation Nomads, would like to share some of it’s secrets on how to run successful hostels with you.

The backpacker and youth adventure tourism business is highly competitive. This begs the question…

Why would a business open up it’s intellectual property to share with it’s competitors and the whole world?

1. We are not perfect – Nomads has been in business for over 20 years and collectively senior management has over 100 years experience in the industry. We have had lot’s of time and practice refining procedures and systems and we hope you find this site a useful resource.  We also know that we are far from perfect and like the idea of getting other peoples thoughts and opinions so we can all learn together.

2. Improving the backpacking sector is important – By improving standards in procedures and freeing up owners time to concentrate on customers and growing their business the perception of backpacking as an option for travelling can only improve. Also professionalising our sector leads to more support from government tourism bodies when it comes to promoting youth and adventure tourism in our countries.

3. Marketing – We are going to be open, honest and candid in this blog. By sharing our bits we expose our brand on the global stage. Maybe people will respect this and we will get more backpackers coming our way and more business owners wanting to deal with Nomads and our expanding backpackers network.

So what can you expect from this site?

Over time we will be blogging about our business practices. We will be updating info on HR procedures, day to day operational procedures and checklists, marketing guides, internet marketing thoughts, financial guides and our general thoughts and opinions on the industry as a whole.

What’s  next?

Our first series will be on Nomads recruitment process so you can make sure you are getting the very best hospitality staff for your business.
