Top Tips to cure your hangover

During your travels guys, let’s be honest, your gonna have a few too many jagerbombs from time to time, or a unique mix of many backpacker drinks depending on your mood and feel a little rough the next day. So, as a barman who helps you get into this state, I’ve got some tips to make the pain ease a little. Do note though, that none of these are full-proof and sometimes you do just have to suffer.
A FULL WASH: When I have the dizzys early in the morning, I wash everything. Hop in the shower, set it as warm as you can handle to open the pours up and scrub everything. Shampoo and condition, brush your teeth (floss, rinse), have a shave and get in to clean clothes. I have always found this helps big time, and at least you can guarantee that you don’t smell of the night before. You may be feeling rough, be at least it’s not that evident.
GOT ON WITH IT: The first few hours are essential. If you can get the blood pumping around your body then your system will flush a lot quicker. Clean the house, go for a walk to get some comfort food and you will feel much better for it. If you don’t get the ball running, your in for a day of touture.
FOOD: GREASY AND/OR CREAMY: Give in to the urge. If you’re in Auckland, a white lady burger or a Covo carbonara pasta is a prefect hangover meal. Cream is a laxitive and grease will ease your baoles, helping get it off the system quicker. Follow it up with a milkshake and a glass of water.
DONT SMOKE: Ok, right now your body is suffering. A hangover is caused by a lack of oxygen in your bloodstream caused by the excessive amounts of alcohol intaken. The last thing you need is to further inflict the suffering on your already shaken blood cells. Give it an hour or two, or at least wait till you have gotten up and gotten on with your day.
If all else fails, hit the water or even have another drink ( if you cant aviod it you may succeed at delaying it).
Let’s be honest, we hate hangovers, but it aint gonna stop us from drinking. And if you really want a hangover, come and see me at The Camel Bar, Fort Street. Ive been inflicting them for years.
SPECIAL NOTE: Drink responsibly, Drink water, Don’t drive, make sure you are in a safe environment and with safe people. Know your limits when it comes to alcohol!
