Top 5 places to get cheap drinks in Auckland
Backpackers need cheap drinks, or pretty much cheap anything in Auckland. We must remember that not everyone can be a flashpacker and New Zealand (especially Auckland) is pretty expensive and so here is a helping hand for backpackers in Auckland – the top 5 places to get cheap drinks in Auckland.
1. – Indians Bar – located on the Viaduct Harbour this is the place to get ultimate value for money where beer is concerned. $10 will get you a Stein which is a rediculously large glass containing a litre of beer. You also get to hang out on the Viaduct and pretend that you have money. Great atmosphere in here too.
2. – Kiwi Music – also famous for its top 5 pizza in Auckland Kiwi Music will do you a great glass of draught beer for $5 to accompany your pizza with perfection.
3. – The Camel Bar – our favourite sister hostel’s bar is a backpacker favourite for a reason. Combine good atmosphere, a crazy range of music (depending upon whose on bar duty) and excellent drink specials, especially the create your own cocktail for $6, you can’t really go wrong. Become a fan on facebook for changes to win bar tabs and other prizes.
4. – Happy Hour in Newmarket – Newmarket is a suburb in Auckland that does some brilliant happy hour deals, try $4 beers at 4pm. Sitting outside with a beer/cider you feel like you’re a world away from Queen Street and the city centre. Newmarket’s easy to get to also, just $1.60 on the bus from the Britomart.
5. – Fusion Bar – Our very own Hostel Bar with probably the cheapest drinks in town (especially on a Thursday!)
