Reef Tax! So what is this business of reef tax anyways? Alot of people visiting the Great Barrier Reef misunderstand the purpose of paying a reef tax. It is actually an Enviromental Management charge (EMC).

Visitors to the Great Barrier Reef are liable to pay their percentage of the charge but it is usually included in the price of reef trips or dive tours. The funds from the charge are applied directly to the management of the Great Barrier Reef and include education, research and ranger patrols. It helps to protect our natural wonder of the world!
