Moomba Festival, Melbourne!
The Moomba Festival is Australia’s largest FREE festival, held on the Yarra River, Melbourne. This years event is from Friday 5th March to Monday 8th March, during Labour Day weekend! This awesome free entertainment is a celebration of Melbourne community, arts, people and culture and started in 1954.
Traditionally the Moomba Festival ends with a colorful street parade with costumed participants and floats. The festival’s name, Moomba, is an aboriginal word meaning ‘Lets go together and have fun’. Nowadays the festival is also called as the Melbourne Moomba Waterfest, because of the large number of activities occurring on or along Melbourne’s Yarra River.

On Labour Day there will be again a Moomba Parade from 11am. The parade takes place along Swanston St from Little Bourke St to Princess Bridge, ending in the St Kilda Rd Service Lane opposite the Arts Centre. Make sure you book your accommodation at Nomads Melbourne Backpackers Hostel for the weekend of Labour Day soon and go to the Moomba Festival.
