Melbourne is enjoying the Midsumma Festival!
In summer Melbourne has a lot to show off, from all the music festivals to the superstars of cricket and tennis but a festival that is celebrated annually in Melbourne is the Midsumma Festival which is a festival celebrating queer culture and it’s reached its 22nd birthday this year. It’s running from the 17th January- 7th February 2010.
With events to cater for every person, there are events almost for every catagory such as film, literature & spoken word, live music, parties & nightlife, performing arts, social & community, sports and visual arts (exhibitions). Not to mention the big events like the Midsumma Carnival that was held on the 17th January to kick off the festival with loads of free entertainment, information and freebies! Also on the same day was the big party launch with T-Dance, a huge dance party at the Alexandra Gardens with international and local DJs.
Midsumma has been going strong for 22 years with more people becoming aware and more businesses getting involved it is getting bigger and better!
