Cairns Regional Art Gallery- A bit of culture for Cairns backpackers

While Cairns backpackers all know what a great place Cairns is for fun and adventure, often little spots of culture can get missed.  One place that’s great to visit is the Cairns Regional Art Gallery!

A visit here will allow Cairns backpackers to experience the vibrant visual arts of Tropical North Queensland and see how the stunning tropics have influenced many of Australia’s leading artists.  These artists include Russell Drysdale, Donald Friend, Ian Fairweather, Margaret Olley, and Ray Crooke…. just to name a few.

North Queensland is also home to some of Australia’s most dynamic regional art communities.  Beyond the creative art works of the Queensland’s region, Cairns Regional Gallery also exhibits fine arts from Australia and worldwide.  This includes some amazing works of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists.

The Cairns Regional Gallery is located at Abbott and Shield Street- just a stone throw from Nomads Esplanade Backpackers Hostel, Cairns.  At only $5 for admission Cairns backpackers can all enjoy this great bit of culture to escape the wet!
