A purrfect new General Manager at Nomads Capital

Time for some sad news but also some good news... Goodbye to Adnin but hello to Cat (I promise no more terrible cat puns).

Goodbye!

Adnin Alias has worked at Nomads Capital backpackers hostel for just over 6 years, originally working as our Night Auditor, then full time reception, team leader and finally as General Manager.

Adnin-SunShe leaves us on February 10th and as for her next adventure? Adnin has met many backpackers over the years so she is going backpacking for the first time to have her own travel experiences, and although she is admittedly a little scared about going travelling on her own, she's also very excited (maybe not about the all the planning and other things to do before she leaves - any help is welcome!).

Apart from the definite plan of travelling around the USA and South America her plans beyond that and the list of possibilities is endless: She might "go back to Malaysia and work a few years or maybe work in Melbourne / Perth, maybe get married... lol..."

So although it is incredibly sad for all of us at Nomads to say goodbye to Adnin and we will miss her, we are excited to welcome Cat to the team...

Hello!

So who is Cat?

Cat Cape reinga

Cat Ritchie has been in New Zealand for just over a year and in this relatively short time has already lived in Auckland, Christchurch, Auckland again and now Wellington. She started with Nomads at the end of December 2011 and has become our newest Nomads Hostel General Manager, based at Nomads Capital backpackers hostel.

Cat is no stranger to the backpacking and travel industry having worked for Website Travel, Peterpans and BWT for the last 2 years. As the National Sales and Business development Manager for Website Travel, she got to know New Zealand very well in the last year, travelling the length of the country training people and meeting all sorts of people involved in New Zealand tourism.

She originally left home for 6 months to go travelling but, as is quite often the case, she enjoyed it too much and has been away from home now for 3 and a half years.

Before knuckling down and getting herself a 'proper' job, Cat visited Peru, South Africa, Thailand, Bali, Lombock, Malaysia, Australia, Fiji, Vanuatu and several European countries, so she certainly knows how a backpackers mind works and is sure to be able to assist anyone and everyone who walks through the hostel door.

Although many people within New Zealand tourism already know Cat well (she pops up at most tourism industry parties!) there may be a few things you didn't know about her...

Did You Know?

  • Cat is Scottish
  • She can open beer bottles with her teeth!! (Such a lady!)

Welcome Cat Ritchie to the Nomads team and Goodbye and Best Wishes for the future to Adnin!
