NZ Skydive are quite literally hitting new heights with their new (ish) 16,000ft Skydive over New Zealand's largest city, Auckland. NZ Skydive operate throughout New Zealand in some of the countries most stunning areas giving skydivers the best of that New Zealand scenery with jumps in Queenstown, Fjordland, Auckland and the Bay of Islands.

However, it is the Auckland skydive that is making headlines as New Zealand's highest skydive.* With a few 15,000ft skydives dotted around New Zealand, NZ Skydive are leading the pack and pushing further boundaries. Originally hitting 16,000ft long before anyone else hit 15,000ft, a bit of an overhaul and refurb has meant that this highest skydive got put aside for a wee while but is now back with a vengeance for those keen to take the challenge.

Not only is this 16,000ft skydive the only one of its kind within Australia and New Zealand, it is one of the only 16,000ft skydives in the world with the infamous Mount Everest skydive named as having the highest drop zone in the world at Kalapatthar which stands at 17,192ft, the other Everest drop zone is Shyanboche at an equal 16,000ft. Let's be fair though, Everest can't really be any lower.

Ok, so the argument is, what is there to see jumping out of a plane in South Auckland? Auckland's never really been known as the top scenic skydive . Well, like all skydives it all depends on that particular day that you are jumping, but on a good day you can catch a glimpse of the Coromandel mountains, the Waitakere ranges and possibly the Southern Hemisphere's highest building, the Auckland Skytower. Descending from 16,000ft however means that you will ultimately see more. This freefall gives you ample time to adjust (if it's your first go) and start admiring the scenery beneath you. The longer you have to freefall, the more you gain from your experience and the more you get for your money.

We have to give credit to NZ Skydive for assisting Auckland in fast becoming an adrenaline junkie place to be and I am most definitely ready to chuck myself out of a plane for a 5th time with New Zealand's highest skydive, so as NZ Skydive quite rightly say, don't just take their word for it, go and give it a go.

*Please note that this is no longer NZ's highest skydive, as there is one you can now do from 18000ft in Franz Josef.
