Australia | Destination Guide & Travel Advice

G'Day

By the time you’re back at the airport, crying your eyes out like a baby because you don’t want to leave, you’ll be in love with this country.  Let’s get down to it, Australia is as close to perfection as you can get. The actual size of the place is bigger than you would expect but in what other country could you be lazing it up in perfect 28 degree sunshine in the tropics, such as The Whitsunday Islands north QLD, while at the same time some lucky bugger is hitting the slopes for a bit of snowboarding and skiing action, at Perisher Blue or Thredbo, a mere 6 hour drive south of Sydney? That is Australia for you – the land of infinite and fan-bloody-tastic possibilities. All you’ve got to do now is go and find them, which isn't as easy as it might seem.

Australia is a big place and the biggest mistake you can make while you’re here is missing out on the best of it. Loads of brilliant cities and towns in Australia have the Bermuda Triangle effect; before you know what’s hit you, 4 months of your life will have flown by.

Important Australia Safety Info:

The spectacular climate and the pristine conditions of this sunburnt continent of Australia were what lured you here in the first place, so keep safe to spare yourself any unnecessary harm and embarrassment:

  • Protect your documents - Save copies of your passport, driver’s license, plane ticket etc separate to your originals and scan and email them to your family
  • Slip, slop, slap - Thanks to an exposed area in the ozone layer, the Australia sun can affect you even on a cloudy day. So slather on that sunscreen before you fry yourself red like half the Brits do every year.
  • Swimming at the beach – Australian beaches are beautiful, pristine and dangerous, so swim between the flags where a hot lifeguard (male or female), can see you and rescue your sorry arse when you get in trouble.
  • Read the signs! If there’s a sign that says, “Beach closed due to hazardous conditions”, or let’s say, “Stingers About”, believe it!
  • H2O - The best tip of all is to drink lots of water. Day or night, this little beauty will spare you the effects of heat exhaustion.
  • Bush trips – If you plan a bit of bush adventure, always go with a group and make sure that someone else knows where you are going. The Aussie bush is thick and vast and filled with creatures that may not be too impressed at you encroaching on their turf.
